The Weight of Water is the first series of works created with liquified pigment on raw,
textured fabric. I explore how pigment spreads, gathers, and settles according to the
weave of the textile, creating compositions shaped by both intention and chance. Dense
passages give way to open space, evoking currents, weather, depth, and suspension. These works investigate how material itself can become an active participant in painting, allowing structure and meaning to emerge through process rather than prior
design.
From Sea to Stone draws inspiration from the coastlines and islands of Greece,
exploring the meeting place between water and land. The paintings suggest eroded
marble, submerged rock formations, tidal pools, and shifting shorelines without
depicting any specific location. Forms appear and dissolve, as though viewed through water or remembered over time. The series reflects on transformation: how water shapes stone, how landscapes hold traces of history, and how permanence and change coexist.
In Her Skin explores vulnerability, resilience, and the traces carried by the body over time. Vein-like structures, translucent layers, and delicate membranes emerge through the interaction of pigment and textile. The works suggest skin, wings, petals, and other fragile surfaces without settling into a single interpretation. The series considers what lies beneath appearances, where strength and fragility exist simultaneously.
Fever Garden departs from the restrained palette of earlier work and embraces
sensuality, heat, and abundance. Floral forms hover at the edge of recognition,
appearing and dissolving within fields of luminous colour. The paintings capture the sensation of standing in a field of bright wildflowers at the height of summer.
Shallow Currents explores moments of stillness within movement. Passages drift across the fabric, recalling reflections, shifting light, and the subtle movement of creeks, ponds and sheltered waters. Depth and surface remain in quiet dialogue, creating images that shift as the eye moves across them.
Starry Night is an homage to the expressive possibilities of colour, light, and movement.
Turquoise and blue-green passages unfold across the fabric, punctuated by luminous accents of yellow-gold. The folds of the textile create sweeping rhythms that animate the surface and guide the eye through the work.
